Staff position for a Nuclear Medicine Specialist
The nuclear medicine department belongs to UZ Leuven (Belgium, 20 km from Brussels), a hospital with
nearly 2,000 beds. The department has a high clinical activity in all major domains and has 30 years of PET
and SPECT experience. The department has a unique multimodal and future oriented infrastructure with 3 SPECT-CT cameras, 2 SPECT camera’s including a dedicated solid-state CZT camera for cardiology, 2 PET-CT cameras and a state-of-the-art simultaneous TOF PET-MRI camera (GE Signa) and an in-house cyclotron (IBA 18/9). The radiopharmacy lab is fully GMP qualified with large synthesis capacity. We offer a wide range of clinical investigations, routinely including many 68Ga-, 11C- and 18F-labeled ligands other than 18F-FDG. Several novel forms of radionuclide therapy are carried out under own nuclear medicine governance. All clinical activities are fully ISO 9001 certified since 2004.
The department has also a strong research program in multimodal PET/SPECT, radiopharmacy and medical imaging, with grants in the fields of oncology (tumor biology and treatment evaluation), neurology, psychiatry, drug development and cardiology, many including fully translational preclinical imaging. A highly competent medical physics team investigates new techniques of image reconstruction and data processing. A fully equipped Molecular Small Animal Imaging Center (MoSAIC) is operational with 2 microPET-CT, an integrated microPET-MR and 2 microMR.
All activities are supported by a motivated and dynamic team of MD’s, radiopharmacists, chemists, physicists and engineers.
The successful applicant should be an MD, permitted to practice nuclear medicine in Belgium and (willing to) master Dutch. Candidates who will fulfill these criteria in the near future can also be considered. The ideal applicant will have broad experience in patient management and an interest in education and clinical research. Candidates with a more clinically oriented profile/interest however are also welcome to apply.
