Staff position for a Nuclear Medicine Specialist

Background:

The nuclear medicine department belongs to UZ Leuven (Belgium, 20 km from Brussels), a hospital with

nearly 2,000 beds. The department has a high clinical activity in all major domains and has 30 years of PET

and SPECT experience. The department has a unique multimodal and future oriented infrastructure with 3 SPECT-CT cameras, 2 SPECT camera’s including a dedicated solid-state CZT camera for cardiology, 2 PET-CT cameras and a state-of-the-art simultaneous TOF PET-MRI  camera (GE Signa) and an in-house cyclotron (IBA 18/9). The radiopharmacy lab is fully GMP qualified with large synthesis capacity. We offer a wide range of clinical investigations, routinely including many 68Ga-, 11C- and 18F-labeled ligands other than 18F-FDG. Several novel forms of radionuclide therapy are carried out under own nuclear medicine governance. All clinical activities are fully ISO 9001 certified since 2004.

The department has also a strong research program in multimodal PET/SPECT, radiopharmacy and medical imaging, with grants in the fields of oncology (tumor biology and treatment evaluation), neurology, psychiatry, drug development and cardiology, many including fully translational preclinical imaging. A highly competent medical physics team investigates new techniques of image reconstruction and data processing. A fully equipped Molecular Small Animal Imaging Center (MoSAIC) is operational with 2 microPET-CT, an integrated microPET-MR and 2 microMR.

All activities are supported by a motivated and dynamic team of MD’s, radiopharmacists, chemists, physicists and engineers.
