Koen Hasaers is the Director of the Institute of Nuclear Medical Applications at SCK CEN, a pioneering institute for nuclear medicine and cancer therapy research including around 100 accomplished scientists and other supporting staff members. With cutting-edge research, cross-disciplinary expertise, and state-of-the art facilities, his institute propels innovation in radiopharmaceutical research & development, cancer treatment, and radioisotope production. K. Hasaers’ extensive experience spans complex markets, where he excels as a business developer and product innovator. His international supply chain skills extend across Europe, the US, China, and emerging markets. As a governance specialist, he has chaired the board and successfully secured funding from major Venture Capital funds. His academic background includes MSc degrees in Bioengineering, Engineering and Automation from Gent University, Belgium.

Sven Van den Berghe is a master of physics graduate of the University of Ghent with a PhD in materials science from the University of Limoges in France, in collaboration with the Institute for Transuranic Elements in Germany and the Belgian nuclear research centre SCK-CEN. He has held the position of head of the Microstructural and Nondestructive Analysis laboratory at the SCK CEN Hotlab for 15 years before becoming the BR2 reactor stakeholder manager. In 2018, he was appointed as the director of the Nuclear Materials Science institute of the SCK CEN, which hosts the BR2 reactor and the hot laboratories. For over 20 years, he has been researching novel research reactor fuels and is regarded as an international fuel development expert while also leading internal and external low-enriched uranium fuel conversion projects. He is currently appointed as the BR2 LEU Conversion Stakeholder Manager.

In 2022 Sven has been appointed CEO For PanTera, a spin-off between SCK CEN and IBA to develop, design and build a production facility for Ac-225 in the battle against cancer. The motivation to take up this position in leading a new company is the idea that the products PanTera will create will signify new hope for cancer patients around the world.
